This week students will complete their guided daydream assignments with two more days of instructions. They will complete their rough drafts, then write a comprehension quiz for readers of their stories. That quiz will go home over Thanksgiving break to be completed by students’ “folks”- those people at home who can provide guidance.
The Week 6 spelling final test over the -ary suffix will be Friday, November 20, with five words directly from the list and five ‘wild’ words that follow the same pattern. The bonus sheet attached has been distributed and needs to be turned in with the test for bonus credit. Here’s the the spelling pattern for this week: Spelling 6

Seventh Grade- November 2-6

This week we will study commas and their uses. We will also begin discussing the Science Fiction story that students will begin writing next week.

The top three boys’ names given in the U.S. in 1997 and 1998 were Michael, Jacob, and Matthew. Girls names changed between those two years.Emily was the favorite both years, followed be Jessica and Ashley in 1997 and Hannah and Samantha in 1998

This week will see students wrapping up 55 Fiction and starting a look at punctuation rules.

Because we were in the computer lab on Friday, the Week 4 spelling final test will be on Monday.

Seventh Grade-October 12-16

Seventh grade students will take the ITBS language arts tests during our class on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Monday and Friday they will review micro-fiction and begin to write stories. A magazine in California annually recognizes the world’s best nanofiction. Our students will also write stories that have characters, setting, conflict, and resolution. Just like the nanofiction contest in California, the stories have to be EXACTLY 55 words.
